Research Promotion (RP) Committee
The Research Promotion (RP) Committee of the ASHRAE Sri Lankan Chapter plays a vital role in advancing the mission of ASHRAE by supporting fundraising efforts at the Chapter level. The committee is dedicated to promoting the ASHRAE Research Promotion Campaign, which generates critical funding for groundbreaking research, educational initiatives, and professional development programs.Over the years, the RP Campaign has expanded beyond research to include support for Education and the ASHRAE Learning Institute (ALI), endowed research through the ASHRAE Foundation, programs for Young Engineers in ASHRAE (YEA),
ASHRAE Scholarships, and the General/Unrestricted Fund. However, research remains the cornerstone of the campaign, with over US$2 million raised annually to fuel innovation and enhance the built environment. ASHRAE Sri Lankan Chapter, led by the RP Committee, has contributed to this worthy cause since its inception. By leading local fundraising initiatives, the RP Committee of the Sri Lankan Chapter fosters collaboration and inspires contributions from members and partners, ensuring the continued growth and success of ASHRAE’s global initiatives.




Chapter Technology Transfer Committee
The Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (CTTC) of the ASHRAE Sri Lankan Chapter serves as a key bridge for sharing current and relevant information within the HVAC&R industry. The committee ensures the efficient transfer of knowledge to and from the Chapter, supporting the industry’s continuous growth and advancement.

The committee is responsible for welcoming attendees, facilitating ticket sales, and managing logistics to create a seamless event experience.
In collaboration with the Chapter Technology Transfer Committee, the team provides complimentary tickets for speakers and special visitors and ensures smooth transitions during events. Through their efforts, the committee enhances the hospitality and professionalism of Chapter gatherings.
Newsletter Committee
The Newsletter Committee of the ASHRAE Sri Lankan Chapter is responsible for creating and distributing the Chapter's newsletter, a vital communication tool that keeps members informed and engaged. Auditing and Finance Committees

The Audit Committee provides oversight on financial reporting, internal and external audit functions, and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. Diversity in ASHRAE Committee
The Diversity in ASHRAE (DiA) Committee of the ASHRAE Sri Lankan Chapter is dedicated to promoting awareness, inclusion, and diversity within the Chapter and the broader HVAC&R industry. This committee works to foster ASHRAE’s commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive membership by implementing strategies that attract and retain individuals from all backgrounds and segments of the industry.
Collaborating with the Membership Promotion, Student Activities, and YEA Committees, the DiA Committee focuses on membership outreach and engagement to ensure diversity across all age groups and demographics. Additionally, the committee partners with the Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (CTTC) to develop programs and initiatives that emphasize diversity awareness, sensitivity, and inclusion. Technical Committee Liaison Committee
The Technical Committee Liaison Committee of the ASHRAE Sri Lankan Chapter serves as a vital connection between the Chapter and ASHRAE’s Technical Committees (TCs), Task Groups (TGs), Technical Resource Groups (TRGs), and Multidisciplinary Task Groups (MTGs). These technical groups are the backbone of ASHRAE's expertise, responsible for preparing Handbook chapters, overseeing research projects, developing programs, reviewing technical papers, evaluating standards, and advising on technological advancements.
The Technical Committee Liaison Committee ensures that members of the ASHRAE Sri Lankan Chapter are effectively connected to these technical groups. The committee coordinates participation, facilitates communication, and supports the dissemination of technical research and insights. Sustainability Committee
The Sustainability Committee of the ASHRAE Sri Lankan Chapter is dedicated to promoting sustainability within the HVAC&R industry and the local community. The committee focuses on developing initiatives that support energy efficiency, high-performance buildings, indoor air quality, and environmental stewardship.
Key responsibilities of the Sustainability Committee include organizing community sustainability projects with non-profit organizations to assist local charities in reducing HVAC&R-related costs, promoting education and awareness about sustainability, and encouraging ASHRAE members to share their expertise to positively impact the environment. The committee collaborates with the Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (CTTC) to organize seminars and presentations with sustainability themes and coordinates efforts with local, state, or provincial government entities to address sustainability and energy-related topics. Through such initiatives, the Sustainability Committee empowers the members of ASHRAE to lead in sustainable engineering practices.
Women in ASHRAE Committee
The Women in ASHRAE Committee of the ASHRAE Sri Lankan Chapter is committed to supporting and advancing the presence of women in the HVAC&R industry by fostering leadership opportunities, networking, and professional growth. Established as part of ASHRAE's broader initiative, this committee aims to create an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages the retention and development of women in engineering, manufacturing, architecture, sales, and other related fields within the HVAC&R sector.
Open to all individuals who share the mission of promoting gender diversity and equality in the industry, the Women in ASHRAE Committee provides opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and skill-building. Through its initiatives, the committee strives to empower women by offering leadership platforms, networking opportunities, and support systems to help them thrive and succeed in their professional careers while contributing to the advancement of the HVAC&R industry. ASHRAE Sri Lankan Chapter is proud to announce that the Chapter is currently being led by a female President, Dayani Gunawardhana, for the year 2024-25 and was previously led by another female President, Udaa Sandamalie Perera, for two consecutive years in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
